Thandi Chimurenga with The L.A. Sound Posse recorded a speech by Ramona Africa on April 4, 2004 at Santa Monica City College. This speech provides an overview of the MOVE organization and serves as a primary source for what happened during the bombing in Philadelphia of 1985.
It is interesting to couple this 2004 speech with her 1992 freestyle magazine interview, which resulted in a motion picture called Ramona Africa: 1992. This short features the work of Danish photographer Jacob Holdt (American-Pictures.com), Darryl Allen Smith of Detroit, Michigan and Mona Lisa Whitaker of Inglewood California—an international collaboration of sorts facilitated by the Internet. In fact it would be safe to say that this motion picture would not be possible without the use of a relatively free Internet—and the World Wide Web may be considered one of the characters in this short, being documented for future generations who may not see internetworking the same way we do today.
